Faculty members of the HIV/AIDS Institute are engaged in a wide array of research activities ranging from basic science to clinic care to policy analysis. The primary areas of research of include the following...

  • Basic science research to improve understanding of the virology of HIV infection
  • Psychosocial, behavioral, and epidemiologic risk factors for HIV transmission
  • Behavioral and biomedical prevention interventions to interrupt HIV transmission in the domestic and international setting
  • Optimization and evolution of the clinical management of persons living with HIV/AIDS in the era of highly active antiretroviral therapy
  • Health policy issues revolving around HIV/AIDS
  • Organizing, financing, and evaluating model HIV/AIDS systems of care
  • Application of health services research, operations research, and epidemiology to the study of HIV/AIDS disease burden through the use of large administrative databases
  • Application of operations research and qualitative techniques to the evaluation of the HIV outreach, counseling and testing, and care continuum
